In 3rd grade I asked my Hebrew teacher why everyone wants Israel. By this I meant why through out history do huge large empires fight to conquer this time little land. There is no logical explanation. Of course when our 8, 9 years old your not going to except this answer. My teacher knew this so she told me that the reason everyone wants Israel is because if one person wants something then its human nature for someone else to want the same thing. This happened; actually it’s happening now in Israel.
100 years ago Israel was a big gross swamp. The Arabs who lived there had lack of technological advancements; Israel or Palestine (I call it The Hold Land, but for this article I’m going to write Eretz Yisroel.) as it was called then, was an underdeveloped country. Then in 1897 the Zionists began going to Eretz Yisroel in large streams of Jews.
Not until 1897 and after did Eretz Yisroel begin developing the land and making technologically advanced safe places to live. Did you know Israel is the only country to have more trees then it did 100 years ago? In 1901 Eretz Yisroel had 14,000 dunam,(or 3500 acres of trees) today Eretz Yisroel has more then 240 million tress thanks mostly to the Jewish National Funds. Other reason ancient empires wanted Eretz Yisroel is because of its geographical location. With one of Eretz Yisroel borders completely touching the Mediterranean Sea this makes it an ideal port, and necessary place to attack if you are trying to build an empire. If you conquered Eretz Yisroel then you can farther enlarge your Empire and conquer neighboring countries.
For Jews returning to Eretz Yisroel and the arrival of Moshiach is all they dream, think and try to accomplish. Doesn’t matter were they are, all Jews are obsessed with Eretz Yisroel. The media tries to coverage what people are interested in, Jews are interested in Eretz Yisroel and Muslims who are the 2nd largest religion in the world also are interested in Eretz Yisroel.
The fact that Muslims claim they need a country in Eretz Yisroel is ridiculous. First of all there are according to wikipedia 52 major Muslim counties. Second of all please watch this video:

Just to recap the reason everyone is obsessed with Israel is mainly because
If one country, nation or group of people has something or wants something everyone wants it
Not really an issue anymore, but was in the past is because of its great geographical location
The Diaspora
Its what the Medias audience wants to hear.
